What personal data Raqs Atlas collects, why, and what rights you have.

Working draft — not yet legally reviewed

This text is a starting point written for the Raqs Atlas platform. Because the site will handle memberships, payments and user-generated content, a qualified lawyer should review and adapt it before launch.

What we collect

  • Account data: email address, username, password (stored hashed, never in plain text)
  • Profile data you choose to add: name, photo, biography, country, city, links, interests
  • Content you create: posts, reviews, comments, lists, booking enquiries
  • Newsletter subscriptions, if you sign up
  • Payment records — handled by our payment provider; we store references and status, not card numbers
  • Basic technical data needed to run and secure the site

Why we use it

  • To run your account and show your profile and contributions
  • To process memberships, purchases and booking enquiries
  • To moderate content and keep the community safe
  • To send account, security and transaction messages
  • To send the newsletter, if you asked for it

What is public

Your username, profile photo, biography and public contributions are visible to anyone. Your email address is never shown publicly. Profile changes may be reviewed by a moderator before becoming visible.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to operate — hosting, email delivery and payment processing — and where the law requires it.

Your rights

  • Access a copy of your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential messages at any time
  • Object to processing and ask us to restrict it

Essential account, security, payment and legal messages continue even if you unsubscribe from the newsletter.

Retention and contact

We keep data for as long as your account exists, and afterwards only where the law requires it (for example transaction records). To exercise any right, contact us through the contact page.
