Biography
Leyla Jouvana became one of the most established Oriental dance teachers and performers in Germany. Her dance background included Yugoslav folkloric and jazz dance before she dedicated herself deeply to Oriental dance. She became especially well known for powerful shimmies, technically demanding drum solos and large-scale international workshops. Together with percussionist Roland, she developed a long-running professional partnership and created one of Europe's major Oriental dance festival environments. Her decades of teaching and event organisation helped make Germany one of the central hubs of the European belly-dance community.
